Using items from around the house for decor can give you such an “I did that” sense of accomplishment. If you know how to turn headboards into fireplaces, sure, you’re going to impress the neighbors. But even simple upcycling techniques can make a praise-worthy impact.
Before you donate all those ill-fitting belts to charity, consider using the belt buckles for picture frames. Miniature framed art was especially popular in Victorian times, but even today, it’s an interesting way to display a collection of small family photos.
Simply remove the buckle from the belt and saw away the buckle’s center pin. Place a small photo behind the buckle so it is visible through the buckle, and hold it in place with a piece of card stock and double-sided tape on the back of the buckle.
Arrange the belt buckle photo collection on a shelf or mantel, or turn them into refrigerator magnets!
