Cabinet Door Serving Tray

For Earth Day, I was looking for ideas to repurpose items. How better to celebrate the earth than by using what you already have? Check out the cabinet door turned serving tray I found at Craftynest.

A serving tray is one of those pieces that is perfect to have for parties or casual get-togethers, but they are often overpriced, mass-produced and lacking in originality.

The DIYers over at Craftynest came up with an inexpensive idea to turn an old cabinet door into a serving tray.

The first thing you’ll need is a cabinet door. Don’t go to Home Depot or anything like that. Instead, hit up some yard sales or visit thrift and salvage stores for cheap, old cabinets. Depending on the wear and tear, you may need to sand or resurface the cabinet door. From there, paint as desired and install door handles to use as tray handles.

Outside of a little cosmetic work, this project is an easy one with a great result. Not only will your serving tray have style and function, but it will have some character due to where it came from. And that’s something you just can’t buy from a catalog.
