Plastic water bottles are one of the biggest culprits adding to our landfills. Recycling this excess plastic through a city recycling program is one way to do the right thing, but there are many ways to reuse plastic bottles to make home decor.
One way to upcycle water bottles is by using the caps. Look at the lovely lampshade below. Does it look like something expensive, retro, designer?
Well, you probably already guessed—it’s made from water bottle caps. About 100 caps to be exact. It also uses wire and cardboard to create a completely recycled product.
If you have water bottles saved up or know you’ll go through that many bottles of water, hang onto the caps to try this project. You’ll find the full directions for the bottle cap lampshade here.
If you don’t have quite enough bottle caps to make a lampshade this weekend, give these snorkeling Easter eggs a try!
